5 BENEFITS OF USING ARGAN OIL

Argan oil or liquid gold has been a staple in Morocco for hundreds of years. Used in various ways such as cooking, hair treatments, medicine and skin care.

This ancient Moroccan powerful oil has an array of health benefits and is rich in natural vitamins making it a must have cosmetic necessity. Derived from kernels of the fruit of the Argan tree, the oil is extracted usually by hand from women working in Argan cooperative farms throughout Morocco.

This article explains many of the most prominent health benefits and uses of Argan oil.

1. To Fight Free Radicals and Environmental Pollutants

Argan oil is rich in tocopherol or vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant which works to fight against everyday damaging effects of free radicals and environmental pollutants. These daily effects take a toll on our skin causing wrinkles and sun damage and Argan oil helps correct the damages caused through our exposure to harsh environmental conditions.

2. To Moisturize and Plump Skin

More than 25% of the fatty acid found in Argan oil comes from linoleic acid, an omega-6 fat, which supports moisture and plumpness by fortifying and protecting the skin, helping in the prevention of wrinkles and the signs of aging. Linoleic acid is a lightweight acid allowing it to be more easily absorbed into the skin.

3. To Fight Wrinkles and Prevent Aging

Studies have shown that when Argan oil is applied directly to the skin, it helps reduce visual signs of aging and promotes elasticity. 40% or more of Oleic acid is found in pure Argan oil, another fatty acid responsible for hydrating dry skin. Oleic acid is a natural, monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid that is found in plants such as grape seeds and olives. Oleic acid is a rich acid, making it a great option for aging skin.

4. To Treat Acne Break-Outs and Stretch Marks

Argan oil is frequently used to prevent and reduce stretch marks, as it improves elasticity of the skin. Many pregnant women report using Argan oil to prevent pregnancy related stretch marks on their belly and other areas, especially since it is naturally derived when found in pure form and does not contain any harsh chemicals.

For acne, Argan oil can be used to counter attack sebum production and control the oil glands by hydrating overly dry skin and can aid in soothing any post break-out redness and inflammation.

5. To Tame Damaged and Frizzy Hair and Smooth Out Split-Ends

You can apply Argan oil directly to damp or dry hair to improve moisture, reduce breakage, or reduce frizz. Argan oil will soften hair, leaving it smooth, silky and healthy. Argan oil is rich in natural vitamins that are good for both skin and hair.
